If you're prescribed tirzepatide for obesity in Canada, come January, you'll be paying double what you would pay if you were prescribed it for type 2 diabetes
I literally just ordered 20 vials today (basically the rest of my prescription) because of this post. Thank you so much for saving me thousands of dollars in the new year.
As my pharmacist reminds me, if this nonsense persists I can always go back to Ozempic for about what I’m currently paying (500/mo out of pocket) but it’s unfortunately true that mounjaro is more effective. I’m 50 lbs down and planning to stay on these meds for the rest of my life.
Wow, this is appalling. This is Lilly’s markup, and not an actual tax.
This is infuriating and demoralizing at the same time. I feel for people who desperately want the help of these medications, my brother is one of them, yet can’t afford $1,000 per month for one. His insurance company stopped covering ozempic a few months after he started taking it tell him that it was because he would have to be on it for life.
Great blog post. This is really important, as these prices are not in place as yet. This is a fat tax, and maybe this can change. I have a feeling that patient advocacy groups will not let this sit. I hope we can effect a change here.

Yep, thought I could just about afford to pay for it in the spring, but at twice the price?
Forget it...

Thanks Sean. That's my hope too.
